I'm Sophie Walker and I am the artist behind the vibrant illustrations you can see here on my website, or on my various social media platforms.

I have had quite the journey into illustration. I studied animation originally at university, then after graduating I spent another year in education to become a Primary school teacher! Teaching children between the ages of 3 and 7 was always filled with fun, and one of the best parts was nurturing a love of reading through my own ever expanding personal collection ofpicture books.

I married Andrew in 2019 and then in 2021 we welcomed our first daughter Lottie into the world and I chose to leave my teaching career and focus on family life at home. While at home I started a handmade children's clothing business and even dessigned my own seamless fabric patterns!​

Then, in 2023, our second daughter, Bea entered world! Lottie has been a fantastic big sister and we were overjoyed by having another little one to love. I closed my business and focused again on being a Mummy. As the girls grew I found myself having more time to draw again and realised illustrating was something I was very passionate about and was keen to further explore.
Now, I love exploring colour and texture through Procreate and other digital media to create vibrant and beautiful illustrations. One part of working with children's books that I love is seeing how a project comes together - going from the initial sketches to the final artwork is something I am always excited to see! I particular love stories involving nature and all things magical, seeing a story come to life through pictures is incredible and knowing my illustrations could help inspire children to love to read fills me with so much joy!

When not hiding behind my ipad, you will find me spending time with friends and family. Enjoying days out making memories and cooking new receipes to tempt the girls into eating their vegetables. I also love a good bubble bath and a good book to read or cuddles on the sofa with either my girls or our newest addition to the family, Merlin the cat, who is so fluffy I now have to give him a daily brush!
